Make Best Use of Your Florist

Developing your wedding theme includes every discipline. Today, I'm thinking about your florist and how he or she contributes to developing your wedding.

First, what is the point of choosing flowers for your wedding? Why do we use flowers? Is it just because they're pretty? They are that, but that's not why we a florist to add flowers to our weddings. Flowers are simply a means to an end - a beautiful and fragrant means to an end.

That "End" is to create a welcoming atmosphere for your guests through attention to detail and, yes, flowers. Secondly, it means to create a backdrop against which you will make your entrance and be viewed by your guests during the ceremony. It such a use demands just the right attention to detail. Too much and you are lost among the flowers. Too little and... well, it's like going to a photographer and having your prom photo taken against a plain wall.

So what does this mean? Simply put, if their shop doesn't draw you in and make you feel welcome or if the style doesn't fit yours, don't go in. Check out the next florist on your list. The chances are great you won't be satisfied with the job performed by the florist whose decor in their own shop does not invite you in.

Of course that's not all there is to choosing a florist, but one thing at a time.
